Young are lazy, Fat and drink to much

This article has to be one of the most eye catching news articles i have seen just because of the very harsh way that the title is written.

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/young-are-lazy-fat-and-drink-too-much-1191466.html

This article is very bias towards the younger generations. At no stage throughout the whole article is there an opinion from the younger people that it is aimed at. I found it quite shocking from the fact that this is a national newspaper producing an article that is so far away from one group. This article discuses with a lot of professors to make it seem more realistic. They use a lot of quotes to back up what their saying. "That is the stage at which the foundations for a healthy life are laid," this person is saying that people need to start eating more healthy. So this professor is sticking up for the writer of this article.

Later on in the article, the writer go's on to say, "The findings demonstrated the need to act early to prevent young people developing the bad habits that could turn them into chronic invalids later in life." He starts to use things that will worry the readers if they are any of the characteristics that the article is about. In my opinion they shouldn't do this because it isn't nice to say this about people. They are basically saying that every single young person is either, fat, addicted to beer or addicted to fags. This is wrong because of the fact that not a lot of people actually are.

Overall i think this article is very bias and shouldn't really be able to say what it has actually said because is not correct on a lot of it. Not every young person is this kind of stereotype that this article has made them out to be.

Watchmen-Opening Scene

Watchmen is a remake of a older film about the comic book. It was released this year and in my opinion is one of the best films out.

Here is the clip of this film that i watched... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6e-CQtsc_go

This clip is only 3 1/2 minutes long but it contains a lot of detailed things that can be spotted quite easily. In this short clip there is a lot of non-digetic sound used. This is shown when all the punches are being thrown. Every punch has a "swooshing" sound as it is thrown, this obviously wont be in the actual scene because everyone knows that punches dont really sound like that. It is done for dramatic effect. If you watch the whole film you will see that these kind of things are used throughout the film. Another thing that is very noticeable is right at the end of the clip where the badge falls to the ground. It obviously doesn't make the noise as loud as it seems in the clip, this is another time that they use Non-Digetic sound to make it seem a lot more noticeable because you wouldnt see it as much if it didn't have the sound put in behind it. In my opinion Non-Digetic sound is one of the best things in films to attract the audience. This is one of the audience pleasures that are found in films and sitcoms.

Another thing that this clip does very well is the way that they use the music throughout the fight scene. This music is very soft and slow music, this is very unexpected just because of it being such a random song to pick. Throughout the clip the music is always in the background with all the action sounds coming in front of the music. A very obvious part is the fact of the lighting in the clip. Like many other films of this kind of genre, it is a very dark. This will show the audience that something is about to happen and shows a state of unstableness in the clip.

Overall this clip is one of the best fight scenes in the whole film. Just from this first clip you can see what the rest of the film is going to be like and its really pulls the audience into the film and that is the reason i enjoy the film so much.

This week i brought the Mock The Week dvd, it is incredibly funny but also very interesting with all the news story's it contain throughout. The show is so popular because of it containing some on the country's top comedians talking about all the top story's that happened that week. I watch it because it makes me laugh and feel that I've always learn't something from the story's they discus.

I also watched the film, Watchmen, for about the 100th time. This film is one of my favourite films because of the brilliant story line. This poster really shows a main part in the film so people will want to see the film because of the poster. This poster makes out the film to be very sinister because of the use darker colours dulling the background of the poster. They make the things towards the front stand out because they are the things that they want you to focus on. Also there is the film slogan, there is a lot of meaning into the film just from this small slogan, "JUSTICE IS COMING TO ALL OF US. NO MATTER WHAT WE DO." This is a very powerful slogan and is in very bright yellow writing so it stands out from the blue background. The title of the film is also in bold yellow writing to make it stand out. The main thing that catches your eye is the badge right in the middle of the poster. This badge is a key part in the film and can be seen by just looking at this poster. The blood mark on it also show that something will happen including this badge, so it makes the poster that bit more interesting. But overall this film will always be one of my favourite films because of the amazing fight scenes and brilliant storyline throughout.

Also this week i surprisingly sat through a whole episode of the news, (only because i wanted to watch something after it.) I found out how depressing the media really make all story's and how negative the media can be. The media make everyone believe a story if they want them to, you rarely see a happy story make the top news. This is down to the media promoting the bad news.
